No Tricks, Just Treats

While many were dressing up for Halloween this year, I had the opposite planned. Halloween is fun and all, but I never really have the desire to dress up or go to parties. Call me boring if you want (I’d probably agree). I’ve been wanting to go apple picking for months and not just to go apple picking, I wanted to stock up on Fuji apples. Fuji apples are sweet and juicy, which make them great for my favorite apple-carrot-lemon-ginger juice. Best part is, October is their prime.

I was a bit nervous at first because it was, after all, the end of October so I wasn’t sure how many would be available. (That’s probably the dumbest thought ever.) The weather was nice, under the circumstances. Let me explain. It was cold, windy, rainy, with very little sun in sight. The ground was dangerously slick, the apples were damp, and if you shook a tree to hard it would rain on you. However, all of these things were what I imagined my first apple picking experience to be like. It was quintessential Fall/apple picking season. See?

From the mountain top.

The picture does it no justice, but it was the prettiest sight. I had so much fun.  One thought that did cross my mind was what happens to all the apples that are on the floor. Do you know? Is that what they use to make the warm apple cider and apple cider donuts they sell in the shop? It made me sad to think they throw it away, that would be so wasteful.

My perfect pick.

The scenery was so pretty and picturesque that I could help but hold up my group to catch this shot for you all.

This post was a short one, but I couldn’t pass up the chance to share with you my apple picking adventures. I had plenty apples so I brought some to my workplace in hopes to get people to choose an apple over the candy in the candy drawers that we have. Success. By the end of the day, there were only two apples left. The health enthusiast in me was so happy that people enjoyed them just as much as I enjoyed picking them.

What did you guys do over the Halloween weekend? Any super awesome costumes? Please tell me I’m not the only one who went apple picking. Where are all my apple pickers? Leave your comments below, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

  1. I too was able to go apple picking this past fall and I had a wonderful time as well. I’m really happy that you were able to enjoy a nice day in the orchard

  2. I’m glad you finally got your apple-picking wish. I am sure the scenery was beautiful. I hear that area is beautiful in the fall. I have not been apple picking before, pumpkin patches are more of my scene, but I imagine it is equally as fun.

I love fall because it includes my two favorite celebrations: Halloween and Thanksgiving, neither require gift giving, just food, family, and fun. With that said, I spent part of my weekend with my best friends preparing for my family’s Halloween party, which turned out super fun and funny.
