November Favorites 2017

Consider this the obligatory, “where has the year gone” post. But really. It’s already December! My gosh!November was a pretty okay month. As with many of the months that go by, there isn’t much special to report back. I had a good time hanging out with my family and Boo for a whole week, so that was fun, but otherwise, it was pretty normal. There were a few things that I really enjoyed throughout the month so, in no particular order, here they are:

The Nix by Nathan Hill I will NOT stop raving about this book. It’s hands down my favorite book of the year. It’s about 700 pages so it took me most of November to finish it (I only read during my commute to and from work) but it was 100% worth it.

She’s Gotta Have It While this was originally a movie, Spike Lee and Netflix are now in cahoots so this 5-hour season released conveniently on Thanksgiving day. I loved it. I should have probably watched the original movie first but I didn’t want to put watching the Netflix series off. I wanted to be in the loop and I don’t regret it. There are so many layers that can be discussed in this series. I loved pretty much all of the episodes and honestly feel like Nola is a friend in my head. I just get her. I’m not sure what the masses are saying about the show but top line, it’s worth the watch.

Smartfood’s White Cheddar Popcorn Not this is a super random fave but my job moved offices at the end of October and the new place had white cheddar popcorn in the snack room. I usually don’t even eat popcorn because the kernels get stuck in my teeth, but it’s just something about that matte black Smartfood bag that gets me every time. I try not to eat a bag everyday but some days I cannot resist.

Pressed Juicery Another new food obsession and it doesn’t help that it’s one block away from my work and I signed up to be an insider so I’m constantly getting coupons. The Movember Milk was a November limited edition and I’m pretty sure I drank about 7 of those throughout the month. It’s all simple ingredients like almonds, almond milk, dates, cinnamon, sea salt and one or two more (can’t remember them all) but it was so filling and very delicious. I’m both happy and sad that November is over because the juices are about $6 each and ya girl typically doesn’t splurge so much on “outside” food. Their Freeze is also a must try.

Cava Yes. Cava. The mediterranean version of Chipotle. For my homies reading in the VCU area, there’s one that just opened on Grace and it’s definitely worth a try. It’s so filling, flavorful and different. I will always love Chipotle but those flavored can get old. The portions are great but, be warned, the pita is not. My favorite thing is the harissa, which is a spicy chile paste. Sooooo gooood! Give it a try!

So that it’s. That’s all for November. While this list may seem short, know that the month of November felt even shorter! I’m sure I’m missing a thing or two but honestly, the month didn’t even give me enough time to become acquainted with things. I also kinda feel like a fatty because most of my favorites were food items, but whatever. Don’t judge.

What are some of your favorite things from the month? Or even in general. Share them in the comments, I’d love to give them a try.
