Inspiring Yourself

Honestly, today was one of those days that I felt like I couldn’t muster up the motivation to put up a post. But here I am. While I had nothing actually taking up my time, my mind is distracted by other things and work was hectic and I completely forgot to schedule a post today and when I remembered it was already after 5p and I usually post around 7p. That time came and gone and I just wanted to be in peace and quiet for a little while longer. But I couldn’t just leave you guys hanging. I couldn’t just break the promise I made to me to keep up with #blogmas. So here I am. And I want to share a few tips on what you can do to keep you motivated.

Remind yourself why you started. Go back to the reason you set the goal that you did and use that to inspire you to keep it up. Often times we forget the reason we started doing something and it becomes routine or a chore. When it gets to that point, that’s when you have to remind yourself of the reason you started. This should hopefully give you the push you need to keep going.

Sometime you have to pep talk yourself. This is kind of related to the first tip. Once you identify the reason why you started on this goal quest, you have to tell yourself that you can’t quit. This sounds a little bad but you kinda have to make yourself feel a little guilty for abandoning a task that you promised yourself you would do. Once you feel like you’ve let yourself down, you’re more likely to find the motivation to keep it up.

Big-up yourself. In the same breath that you’ve made yourself feel guilty about not doing that thing you promised you would, you have to give yourself credit. Praising yourself for keeping up the good work will make you want to continue being proud of yourself. If you feel good, you’ll do good and that’s what we want.

These 3 tips have everything to do with the conversation you need to have with yourself to keep up on a goal you’ve set. It’s also usually the three phases I go through before picking up a task that I once put down. While I didn’t technically put down Blogmas, I was tempted to. But I had to big myself up and remind me that I made a promise to post and I’m so close to reaching that goal. So, again, here I am.

Of course there are tons of other ways you can inspiration to keep moving forward but ultimately it’s up to you.

Keep up the good work. You got this.
